Datnoids' population is rapidly declining in the wild. The ornamental fish trade seems like they are taking these fish from the wild for granted. Selling them as if they were farm bred tetras for as low as $4USD each. Excessive collecting is not the only reason why datnoids are disappearing. Overfishing, pollution, and habitat loss, they all contributes to datnoids' fate. Don't you think we can do something about that? Captive breeding programs have proved to be successful in many cases. I believe Datnoid is no exception. It can be done. Whether it can be done by creating a natural environment for the datnoids, or make it happen in a lab, I honestly don't know. That is why I created this blog, seeking any hobbyists, datnoid lovers, researchers, environmentalist, or just any body who would like to contribute and support in saving the dats.
